Electrical wheel gear unit is a DC motor with forced ventilation, that exchanges electrical to mechanical energy. This mechanical energy is transfered to the hub through the reduction transmission. Gears of first stage are changeable so that the operator can change the gear ratio based on current field condition. Driving gear unit is fixed on truck with help of flange and operates as an axle of the truck as well as transmission and driving motor.
        电动轮设备就是带强制风冷的直流电动机,可将电能转化为机械能。机械能通过传动减速传导至电动轮轮毂。{dy}级传动齿可变,驾驶员可根据电流与磁场情况来改变齿数比。电动轮通过连接基座与矿车接合作为后桥,起到了传动以及驱动矿车的作用。

The EWGU is triple reduction, triple torque path, gear transmission driven by AC motor. The AC motor is mounted inside the spindle. The 1st reduction gearing is epicyclic type with an extended 1 st reduction shaft pinion coupled from the AC motor and driving the 1 st planets. The 2nd reduction gearing is external spur coupled with carrier of planets of 1 st stage. The 3rd reduction gearing consists of three spur shaft pinions, which are interference fitted to the 2nd reduction gears and one epicyclic gear (annulus). The annulus gear is the output torque path and is directly connected to the large torque tube which is connected to the wheel hub, driving the truck tires.

Total gear ratio 42 : 1 +/- 0.2 as maximum.
总齿轮比:{zd0}42 : 1 +/- 0.2。
The worst-case torque on the outboard end motor shaft will be no greater than 22,000 ft-lb., occurring at any speed from O to 40 mph
介于0—40千米/时之间任何速度下,电动轮轮轴外侧扭力最差不超过22000尺磅。
The EWGU shall support the following deadweight loads per vehicle:
Rated Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW): 1,210,000 lb
Maximum GVW: 1,282,000 lb.
Overload GVW: 1,354,000 lb.
单台车电动轮负载量如下

The EWGU will be designed for the following service intervals:
Major Preventative Maintenance: 20,000 hrs
Major Overhaul Interval: 40,000 to 50,000 hrs

The EWGU is cooled by forced air
电动轮设备采用强制风冷。
All bearings are rotating element bearings. The wheel bearing system consists of two large, indirect mounted, tapered roller bearings mounted on the spindle and supporting the hub, rim and tires that support the full weight of the truck on the rear tires. All planet gears are mounted on a double row spherical and a single row cylindrical roller bearings.
所有轴承均为滚动轴承。轮轴系统包括两套大型间接安装锥形滚动轴承,其安装在电动轮机轴上,支撑轮毂,轮辋以及轮胎,轮毂,轮辋以及轮胎支撑卡车后半部分总重。所有行星齿都安装在一个双排球面和一个单排圆柱滚轴上。
The spindle is made from a medium carbon, high alloy, heat treated steel casting and used to mount the AC motor and all the gear reduction components, as well as to support a large portion of the Haul Trucks gross weight. It is a one piece casting, including three bearing caps, with no split face.
机轴部分由中碳高合金热处理铸钢制成,用于安装交流电动机以及减速齿部件,同时支撑很大一部分卡车总重。机轴为整体铸件,包括三只轴承帽,都没有分割面。
Caution: Do not weld any part of spindle!
注意:不要在机轴任何部位进行焊接!
The EWGU lubricating system is a splash feed system consisting of an oil reservoir along with channels and piping to direct the oil to the gear meshes and 2nd reduction shaft pinion bearings.
电动轮设备采用溅射润滑系统,系统包括贮油槽以及油轨和油管,油轨及油管将润滑油传导至各齿轮啮合点以及第二级减速齿轴承。
Škoda recommends using oil ISO VG 680, preferably EMGARD 680EP. For other alterantive types of oil see table 1
Škoda推荐使用符合ISO VG 680 标准的润滑油,EMGARD 680EP 更为适合本产品。若使用其他类型的油品请参见表1。
This chapter contains instructions for performing maintenance on the gearbox which should be performed by personnel nonnally concerned with the daily operation of this equipment. It should be noted that the gearbox requires maintenance perfonn in accordance with Table 3-2 to operate through its intended life without major overhaul.
本章节含有关于齿轮箱的人员日常操作保养说明的内容,须注意,未经大修之前,在齿轮箱既定使用寿命时期内须按照表格3-2进行保养操作。
2.1. Once a week 每星期
Fill the grease caps located by seals with grease
再油封旁的黄油帽中加注润滑脂
Check oil level in the gearbox. For exact checking is needed to stop the truck on horizontal plane and let it stay for 1 hour. This will assure the oil flowing back to tank and its degassing. For oil level checking dismount a plug for oil filling  and check the oil with dip stick. In case the oil level is lower than low limit, refill it.
检查齿轮箱中的油位,如需jq检查,应将矿车停至平坦路面并静置一小时,以便齿轮油流回油箱以及排出油内所含气体。检查油位时拆掉油堵并用油尺检查。如果油位低于{zd1}限位则须补加。
2.2. After each 300 hours of operation 每运行300小时后
Dismount a magnetic plug by oil outdrain and check the presence of metal particles. If the amount of metal particles is extraordinary, it could mean the extraordinary wear in gearbox. In such a case change the oil and check regularly once a week the metal particles amount.
拆掉出油口的磁堵查看是否有金属物质吸附在上面,如果磁堵上吸附大量金属物质,则说明齿轮箱内可能存在磨损。出现此种情况需换油,每星期定期检查磁堵上是否存在金属物质。
It is recommended to analyse the oil sample for existence of metal particles.
如果发现磁堵上存在金属物质,则推荐取油样化验。
Check the oil or grease leak. Small oil leakage could be normal considering the operational conditions. Inadequate leak  means a problem in gearbox condition.
检查齿轮油或者润滑脂是否泄漏。根据运行条件不同,少量漏油可视作正常。不规则泄漏说明齿轮箱存在问题。
2.3. After 600 hours of operation 运行600小时后
Change the oil filling. Open the outdrain valve and let the oil drain out from oil tank.
换油。打开放油阀,将油从油箱中放出。
Check the magnetic plug.
检查磁堵。
Flow the oil tank by clean oil and fill it with new oil according to technical requirements on assembly drawing. Next oil change should be done after each 1500 hours of operation.
使用洁净的油冲洗油箱,根据技术手册安装图纸中的规定添加新油。之后每1500小时进行换油操作。
2.4. After 2500 hours of operation 运行2500小时以后
Dismount the sun pinion shaft from the gearbox and check teeth surface condition. Dismount a cover of gearbox and check the gear teeth surface on other gears. Small and exceptional pitting should not be a reason for gearbox shut down, but should iniciate the planned exchange of gears during the next inspection.
从齿轮箱拆下太阳齿轴检查齿轮表面情况,拆下齿轮箱其中一只端盖检查其他齿轮表面情况。齿轮表面出现小面积异常点蚀不会影响齿轮箱导致停机,但是应提前做好计划,在之后的保养检查过程中更换齿轮。
Check the backlash of gears with dial gage and compare with values shown on the assembly drawing.
使用千分表检查齿轮之间齿隙,与安装图纸上的数值进行比较。

Complete repair is recommended after 15000 hours of operation, but this interval is influenced with maintenance condition, current operational condition and condition of service shop. The decision if the EWGU should be shut down and dissassembled should be done based on results of analyses
运行15000小时之后应进行大修,但是大修期受保养条件,运行条件以及车间工作条件影响。应根据对电动轮的分析结果决定是否停机或者拆卸大修。
Oil sample and amount of metal particles
油样以及金属杂质含量
Result of other observation like metal particles on magnetic plug and extraordinary oil leakage
           其他观察结果,如磁堵上吸附的金属物质或者严重漏油。
Extraordinary or irregullar noise
           异常或者不规则噪音
Extraordinary gearbox heat generation
           齿轮箱异常发热
If the inspection does not show any of these indications, it is recommended the EWGU continues operation and the above mentioned inspections should be done.
如果在检查过程中未发现上述现象,则推荐继续运行电动轮,但是需要完成上述检查。
4. Ratio conversion 齿轮比转换
Conversion to different ratio to be done according to a following process:
根据以下步骤调整不同齿轮比
Remove the cover Ok204987
拆掉件号为Ok204987的端盖
Release screw connecting sun pinion with motor
拆掉连接太阳齿和电机的螺栓
Take the sun pinion out of the gearbox
从齿轮箱中拆出太阳齿
Dismount carrier axle holder Ok 204984. Attention: in case of two prototypes this carrier holder must be changed – new holder is to be delivered with spare cartridge.
Take out the subassembly of carrier Ok204991 and disassemble it with help of push off screws, including pull out of bearings and satelites
Dismount the ring gear
Exchange of new parts is done in opposite order. Note: new satelites do not have a collar for bearings. Instead of it they are provided with grooves for safety rings, that are included in new cartridge. Assembly these safety rings into grooves.
5. Conversion of single seal to double seal
Remove the external brake cover
Remove the holder of dust shield
Cut the dust shield and remove it
Disassemble the cover of V-ring (dust excluder) and remove the internal dust shield
Remove spring and pull down the V-ring
Remove the seal retainer and take out the seal
Dismount the retainer Ok204976
Remove the seal runner. Attention: do not damage the O-ring!
Remove the O-ring and insert it into new seal runner and put it back to spindle
Assembly the new seal retainer
Insert first seal, insert spacer and then insert the second seal
Assembly the cover plate
Put back the V-ring and assembly its cover
Assembly the grease caps into retainer
Assembly back the brake cover
